Harsha House

by Joan Nowak last modified 2008-01-03 13:53

Location: 103 State, downtown Charlevoix, MI.

Approaching Harsha House from State Street, you are greeted by a front Harsha House Dec 2007 from M. Chavezwalk flanked with geranium filled antique planters. The building is a lovely Victorian painted cream with light yellow accent. In the lawn off to the right is a circular flowerbed displaying pink Spirea, Hosta and impatiens. On right, in front of the porch, hydrangea and other old fashioned flowers gracing the foundation. A memorial rose garden blooms on the left side of the porch steps. Stepping through the traditional wood framed screen door you will find the headquarters of the Charlevoix Historical Society along with the museum and the museum store.

Outside, the side yard is bound by a white picket fence with Day Lily, Heliopsis, Daisy, Snow on the Mountain and other self-seeders and spreaders filling the bed with old style charm.

Seven dedicated members maintain this historic garden.
